How do I connect my Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to the University of the Pacific's wireless network?

Connecting an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad via Pacific's wireless network:

  1. Confirm that the Apple device has the latest updates, or download and install.  You must be running at least iOS version 2.0 or higher.
  2. Wipe all wireless network setting out and reboot the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.
  3. On the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad go to Setting and choose Wi-Fi.
  4. Select the Wi-Fi switch to On.
  5. Under Choose a Network select Other. Note: Some of the Pacific wireless SSIDs are broadcast.  If you see the SSID you want to connect to in the Choose a network list you can skip to step 3 in the instruction for the SSID below.
  6. In the Name field enter:

If you are a Student use PacificNet, this is the SSID.  Note: This wireless SSIDs is broadcast.  If you see the SSID in the Choose a network list you can skip to step 3.

  1. Select Security and choose WPA Enterprise
  2. Select Other Network back button to return to the previous screen.  
  3. Enter your PacificNet ID username and password when prompted and select Join.  If prompted Accept the certificate.
  4. Confirm all these settings by going back to the main screen.

If you are a Staff/Faculty use PacificNet_PRO, this is the SSID.  Note: This wireless SSIDs is broadcast.  If you see the SSID in the Choose a network list you can skip to step 3.

  1. Select Security and choose WPA Enterprise
  2. Select Other Network back button to return to the previous screen.  
  3. Enter your PacificNet ID username and password when prompted and select Join.  If prompted Accept the certificate.
  4. Confirm all these settings by going back to the main screen.

If you are a university Guest use PacificNet_Guest, this is the SSID.  Note: This wireless SSIDs is broadcast.  If you see the SSID in the Choose a network list you can skip to step 3.

  1. Confirm Security is set to None.
  2. Select Join.  Confirm all these settings by going back to the main screen.
  3. Note: Guest access has a registration process you will be prompted to complete.  You may be prompted regarding continuing and accept the wireless server identity. Select Details and when prompted Accept the certificate. You will then be prompted to complete either request for access by selecting Guest Without an Account or select to login with your Pre-Sponsored Guest credentials.   For tips for filling out the registration please see OITFAQ Article 876:Are there steps or tips for completing the guest wireless request form for use on PacificNet_Guest? 
  4. After setting up the PacificNet_Guest connection, confirm both Auto Join and Auto Login are set to On within the wireless settings. 

 The iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad should now connect to Pacific's wireless network.
